Former Infosys board member and CFO V Balakrishnan who quit the IT giant on December 20 was among 201 people from Bangalore who became primary members of the Aam Aadmi Party on New Years Day. According to the online membership registration records of the AAP,Balakrishnan was at number 190 for the new members registered till 10 pm Wednesday.
AAPs online membership records from Bangalore show that a person identified as V Balakrrishnan had his AAP membership approved at 09:07 am Wednesday.
Balakrishnan who had indicated that he was going to be involved in setting up a venture fund with another former Infosys CFO and member of the board T V Mohandas Pai following his exit from Infosys did not respond to phone calls or texts. Pai,however,confirmed that Balakrishnan had become AAPs primary member.
A PTI report said Balakrishnan,51,had confirmed to the agency that he had become a primary member of the party. Yes I have become a member of the AAP,have got the confirmation today, Balakrishnan was quoted as saying. They have revolutionised politics in this country,Im fascinated with it.
The former Infosys official who sold 1,00,000 of his Infosys shares ahead of his exit from the company said it was too early to comment on whether he would be an AAP candidate in Bangalore for the Lok Sabha polls. Balakrishnans friend and mentor Pai is part of the Bangalore Political Action Committee which is involved in the identification and promotion of good candidates from across political parties.
