Groups of visitors from abroad have started visiting Bodhgaya. Since the blast on Sunday last,at least five foreign groups have visited the temple town. A 58-member group from Thailand and over 100 tourists from Sri Lanka are still there.
Meanwhile,NIA is yet to unearth any important lead on those responsible for the serial blasts. While the Bodhi Temple Management Committee (BTMC) has issued showcause notice to private security agency Cobra Sentinel Private Limited and its own private guards,NIA is not satisfied with the explanation of the night security staff. A BTMC member Arvind Singh told The Indian Express: Cobra guards in two shifts of eight each and 23 private BTMC guards assisted in temple security. Asked if BTMC or Cobra guards looked after Mahabodhi temples internal security after 9 pm,Singh said the temple secretary N Dorjee was competent to talk about it.
Sources said Cobra guards provided security from 5 am to 9 pm. A team of 10 Bihar policemen also looks after the external perimeter security. Since cylinder bombs weighing two and a half kg each were planted in the main temple premises, the NIA has not ruled out the involvement of local support .
