TDP president Chandrababu Naidu was evicted from Andhra Pradesh Bhavan around 4 pm Friday and rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital. Naidu had been sitting on an indefinite fast for the past five days to protest against the Telangana decision.

Police had been informed Thursday that Naidu’s condition was deteriorating and he should be shifted to hospital. Senior Delhi Police officers held a meeting Thursday and finalised the plan to evict him.

On Friday, all eight arterial roads leading to Andhra Bhavan were blocked and senior police officials along with 500 policemen were deployed.

Naidu agreed to go to the hospital only after the police reasoned with him for over half an hour. It took more than an hour to get Naidu out of the premises as TDP supporters clashed with the police and raised slogans against Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. About 200 supporters were detained.

“Naidu is continuing his fast there. The police action was provocative and uncalled for,” TDP leader Ram Mohan Rao said.

Dr H Kar,medical superintendent of RML hospital, said Naidu is “mildly dehydrated” and has refused IV drips as well as food.
