The custody of alleged Indian Mujahideen member Fasih Mehmood,who was deported from Saudi Arabia and arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell on October 22,was handed over to the Bangalore City Police on Thursday by Additional Sessions Judge Asha Menon.
Fasih,who is an accused in the Delhi blast and Chinnaswamy stadium blast cases,was handed over to the Bangalore police after the Delhi Police said that they did not require him for custodial interrogation and that he may be sent in judicial custody.
Accused is remanded in judicial custody. An application is moved by the Bangalore City Police to transfer Fasih to Bangalore. Jail authorities are directed to hand over his custody to the Bangalore Police and the accused shall be surrendered in Delhi court after his investigation in Bangalore is over, said the ASJ.
The ACMM court in Bangalore had issued a production warrant for Bihar native Fasih on October 29.
Fasihs counsel S I Alam told the court that he had no objection to his transfer of custody. Speaking to the media,Alam said that Fasih,who is a mechanical engineer,will fully cooperate with the investigation since any interference at this stage of the investigation would not be fruitful to proving his innocence.
