When Asghar Farhadi was announced winner of the Best Director Award at the closing ceremony of the 42nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI),Goa,for Nader and Shimin,A Separation on Saturday,the Iranian writer,producer and director was probably still cooped up in his Paris pad,oblivious to the honour. He has been incommunicado for a while and hasnt responded to IFFIs mails.
While Farhadi is said to be working on his next script,the film has been much talked about ever since it was first screened in February and had at least three packed screenings during the festival in Goa.
Columbian film Porfirio,directed by Alejandro Landes,bagged the Golden Peacock Award for the Best Film,while Malayalam film Adaminte Makan Abu received the Special Jury Award,comprising a Silver Peacock,a certificate and a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh.
The Best Actor Award,comprising Rs 10 lakh,went to Israeli actor Sasson Gabai for his role in Restoration whereas Nadezhda Markina won the Best Actress for Elena.

Franch director Luc Besson and actress Michelle Yeoh were there with their film The Lady. The awards ceremony was followed by the screening of the film,which is based on Myanmar rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi.
The award-winning films were chosen by a jury comprising Adoor Gopalakrishnan,Laurence Kardish,Lee Yong Kwan,Tahmineh Milani and Dan Wolman.
