Wooing a disgruntled Rajput community,BJPs election campaign chief Narendra Modi formally inducted ace shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and former Jaipur royalty Diya Kumari into the party at the mega rally in Jaipur Tuesday. Though party sources say the duo are likely to contest the parliamentary elections in May next year, their induction is expected to win back the distanced Rajput community in the state.
India today needs decisive leadership and I see that leadership in Narendra Modi and Vasundhara Raje. Like a general that leads from the front,he has galvanised a nation that had forgotten to believe. He deserves a chance,India deserves a chance and I am willing to soldier for India. I find very creditable leadership at the helm of the BJP,in the BJP-led states and a committed and strong grassroots cadre, said Rathore, who has taken voluntary retirement from the Indian Army after 23 years of service. Rathore,43,won the silver medal in 2004 Athens Olympics in Double Trap shooting. I had the option of sitting comfortably where I am right now,but I am prepared to lead from the front and ready for any brickbat. Development of the nation is the only mission, he added.
Jaipur royal family heir,Diya Kumari, cited family tradition as the motivating factor to join politics and BJP. My prime objective of coming into politics is to serve the people. The members of my family like my grandfather the late Maharaja Sawai Man Singh ji,my grandmother the late Rajmata Gayatri Devi ji,and my father the late Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh ji have all had a special bonding with the people and have been concerned about their welfare. Their contribution to the people and the nation has been immense.
Lately the erstwhile royal families were seen swaying onto the Congress side with three MPs Chandresh Kumari Katoch of the Jodhpur royalty,Bhanwar Jitendra Singh of Alwar and Ijayraj Singh of Kota playing an important role in the partys affairs.
