With Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi leaving for Jharkhand on an official trip early on Friday, the Election Commission couldn’t fully examine the CDs of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav’s speeches delivered early this month, wherein he allegedly passed sexist comments against Mainpuri DM.

In its examination of the CDs on Thursday, the poll panel had found the charges of a sexist bias in Mulayam’s speeches “exaggerated”. The panel is now also getting transcripts of the speeches prepared “to be doubly sure of its contents”.

The EC,meanwhile, transferred Senior Superintendent of Police (Gorakhpur) Yogendra Pachauri,Superintendent of Police (Kushinagar) Gyan Singh, and Superintendent of Police (Mainpuri) S R S Aditya on charges of “favouring” the ruling BSP in the state.

The panel also expressed its “displeasure” over the reply of Union Minister Sis Ram Ola to an EC notice on violation of the model code by inaugurating a government school project in Rajasthan. “A Union Minister having attended such a function with publicity by way of issuing pamphlets carrying his photographs itself speaks of the nature of violation of model code. It is unfortunate,” said the EC communication to the minister.
