Not to be left behind,northeasterners have a conspicuous presence at the Osians festival. Over the weekend,two films from Assam were premiered. Pegged as one of the highlights of the festival,Kenny Basumatarys Local Kung Fu a martial arts comedy made on a budget of Rs 95,000 premiered on Saturday. While Local Kung Fu (in the picture) is a fun-filled film about youngsters in Guwahati,Assamese filmmaker Bidyut Kotokys bilingual (Hindi and Assamese) film,As the River Flows,is set in the worlds largest riverine island,Majuli in Assam. The film that was screened on Sunday depicts the plight of people in Assam who are caught in the crossfire between government forces and militants.
