DIG shunted out for ‘honour killing’ remark

Earlier in the day,CM Akhilesh Yadav said action would be taken against the DIG.

The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred Saharanpur DIG S K Mathur,who was caught on video suggesting honour killing to a man seeking help in tracking his missing daughter. The DIG had reportedly told the man that if his own sister eloped,he would kill her or commit suicide. Mathur has been asked to join the office of DGP,Headquarters.

Earlier in the day,CM Akhilesh Yadav said action would be taken against the DIG.

CAG pulls up BEML over Tatra sales

The CAG has pulled up defence PSU BEML for overstating revenue and profits from the sale of Tatra trucks despite discrepancies in the audit process being pointed out in the past.

BEML is currently under the scanner for its deal with Tatra after Army Chief Gen V K Singh alleged that he was offered a bribe to procure the trucks.

Govt gives nod to IAF trainers

New Delhi: The Air Force will finally get a new fleet to train its cadets in the basics of flying with the Cabinet Committee on Security on Thursday clearing a multi-million dollar deal to procure 75 Swiss-made Pilatus P7 aircraft.

The deal will be signed soon and the first of the basic trainers will join the Air Force in less than two years,officials said.
