Delay in construction of stadia, escalation of cost of several projects, and unrealistic list of prohibited items at the Games venue are some of the key lessons and recommendations mentioned by the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) in the Post -Games Report published recently.
OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi and other Games officials, who were arrested by the CBI for several financial irregularities,do not find any mention in the report. The report does not carry even a single photograph of Kalmadi.
As a protocol after every CWG,the host country has to prepare a report which is sent out to the International Olympic Association and member countries of the CWG Federation.
The 175-page report published two months ago mentions scores of areas where the organisers faltered and the cost of the project shot up.
Frequent changes in personnel, especially functional area heads caused disruption of work at the OC CWG Delhi 2010, the report read. There was little revenue generation through sale of tickets even though the stadia remained unoccupied, the report said.
