CWG: Bhanot cites 2G,seeks bail

Both the cases are related to allegations of financial irregularities.

Former Secretary General of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Lalit Bhanot,who is now an arrested accused,on Thursday sought bail from a special CBI court on the ground of parity with the freed accused in the 2G spectrum case accused.

“Both the cases are related to allegations of financial irregularities. Both the cases are also similar in their alleged effect on society and causing loss to exchequer…. These judgments (of the Supreme Court and the High Court that granted bail to a total of 10 accused) are not applicable to 2G case only. They are now law,” said advocate Ramesh Gupta,appearing for Bhanot.

Dy SP under scanner in Sohrabuddin case dies of heart attack

AHMEDABAD: A police officer,who was under the scanner in the Sohrabuddin encounter case,died of a massive heart attack on Thursday morning at a rest house in Himmatanagar,where he had gone to take charge after being promoted to the rank of a deputy superintendent of police recently. Pradumansinh Jadeja (53),who was with the Ahmedabad Crime Branch for a long time,was recently promoted as DSP and posted at Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha district.

Jadeja had come under the CBI scanner after the arrest of IPS officer Abhay Chudasama in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
