Court rejects former Nalco chairman’s plea to drop graft charges

Srivastava had pleaded that the CBI had not obtained proper sanction before arresting him.

A Delhi court has dismissed former NALCO chief AK Srivastava’s plea for dropping corruption charges against him. Srivastava had been arrested last year along with his wife Chandni and co-accused BL Bajaj and Anita Bajaj. The CBI had recovered 10 kg of gold,jewellery worth Rs 2.13 crore and Rs 30 lakh in cash from their possession.

Srivastava had pleaded that the CBI had not obtained proper sanction before arresting him.

The CBI had alleged that BL Bajaj acted as a conduit between coal suppliers Bhatia Group and Srivastava,collecting illegal gratification from the Bhatia Group,on behalf of Srivastava.
