A city court Tuesday issued fresh non-bailable warrants NBWs against alleged terrorist David Coleman Headley and eight others.
The NBWs were issued after the NIA moved the court stating that though a chargesheet had been filed in the cases against the nine accused,all of them are absconding and previous warrants against them have not been executed. The last NBW against them was issued on May 30.
Additional Sessions Judge Dharmesh Sharma issued NBWs against Headley,his accomplice Tahawwur Rana,his handler Sajid Malik and Lashkar-e-Toiba founder Hafiz Saeed. The NBWs returnable by January 14 have also been issued against alleged mastermind of 26/11 attacks Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi,senior al-Qaeda member,Illyas Kashmiri,two Pakistani army officials Major Iqbal and Major Sameer Ali and former Pakistani Army officer Abdul Rehman Hashmi.
According to the chargesheet filed by the NIA on December 24,2011,the nine accused allegedly entered into a conspiracy with LeT and HuJI members to commit terrorist strikes in India,including serial bomb blasts in Mumbai in 2008. Headley and Rana are currently in US custody.
