Lucknow DIG D K Thakur said the MLA was not present at his residence when the incident took place. The complainant has not made any allegation against him either,Thakur added.

The DIG said Jeet Bahadur Singh,a resident of Faizabad, told the police that one Keshav Chaubey had called him around 10 am to the MLA’s residence. Singh reached there along with his friends,Mukesh Pandey and Om Prakash.

He alleged that Chaubey, and two other persons, assaulted him and asked him to pay Rs 2 lakh to one Amit Pandey or they will push him off the flat. Chaubey, who lives in the flat, kept torturing him when Singh’s friends somehow called up the police for help. The police rushed to the flat in the afternoon and rescued Singh and his friends.

The DIG said both Jeet Bahadur and Amit Pandey are contractors. Singh reportedly had to pay Rs 5 lakh to Pandey. He had given Rs 2.35 lakh and Pandey was now forcing him to pay the rest.
