On the backfoot after party MP Vijay Darda praised Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi calling him a “lion”,the Congress on Monday said that it was ascertaining facts following which further course of action will be decided.

“As far as Vijay Darda is concerned, the AICC in charge concerned (Mohan Prakash) has been asked to examine the facts. Once he is cognisant with the facts, the process,if at all it has to go further, will be decided,” AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said at a press briefing here.

Meanwhile, the BJP criticised the politics of “untouchability” witnessed in the country against Modi.

“A peculiar kind of untouchability is sought to be maintained in the politics of the country (against Modi). It is an indication of the worst form of vote bank politics. The BJP criticises such kind of politics,” party’s chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said. Anyone who lauds the positive things happening in Gujarat is attacked and this,he said,is not democracy.

“If certain leaders honestly appreciate the positive good governance and development in Gujarat, they immediately become victims,” Prasad said.

Citing examples of Shahid Siddique who was disowned by the Samajwadi Party and Darda,Prasad said that anyone who tried to praise Modi’s good works in Gujarat was targeted.
