Desperate to come back to power in Himachal Pradesh,the Congress Friday promised allowance to educated unemployed youth,free laptops to meritorious students,hike in daily wages and social security pensions and regularisation of contractual staff in five years.
In its manifesto released by Union Commerce Minister Anand Sharma in presence of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and state party chief Virbhadra Singh on Friday the Congress vowed to ensure a transparent and accountable government and promised to probe all scams that took place during the BJP regime.
The manifesto is silent on issues like price rise,FDI in retail,special industrial package for the state.
The manifesto promised allowance of Rs 1,000 a month to all unemployed youth who have passed 12th standard and whose annual family income is not more than Rs 2 lakh. Handicapped unemployed graduates will get an allowance of Rs 1,500 per month. It also proposes to hike the daily wages to Rs 200,while social security pension will be hiked to Rs 600 from the current Rs 450.
