Two months after she waved an allegedly morphed photograph of Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta P P Naolekar dressed in the RSS outfit in the Assembly,Congress MLA Kalpana Parulekar was on Friday arrested from her residence in Mahidpur town.

Parulekar, the MLA from Mahidpur in Ujjain district, had waved the photograph inside and outside the Assembly during the debate on no confidence motion against the BJP government in November-December last year to shore up her allegation that the ombudsman had RSS links and, therefore, was not acting against corrupt ministers.

A team of CID officials from Bhopal took her into custody after searching her house in the afternoon. “We are prima facie satisfied that the photograph had been morphed,” said ADG (CID) M R Krishna. Parulekar was booked under sections of IPC and Information Technology Act,for conspiring to defame the ombudsman.

The Congress rallied behind the MLA. “The government wants to please the Lokayukta and seek to hush up corruption through him,” alleged Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh.
