Senior Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed on Wednesday stated that blasts near the BJP office in Bangalore will certainly help the party politically in the May 5 Assembly election, drawing sharp criticism from the BJP,which accused the ruling party at the Centre of playing votebank politics. The Congress was, however, quick to distance itself from Ahmeds remarks.
We all know terrorism is a national issue or problem and,to some extent,an international problem. We do not view the problem in terms of political benefit or loss, said Congress media department chairman Janardan Dwivedi.
Ahmed had tweeted: If the blast near BJPs office in Banglore is a terror attack,it will certainly help the BJP politically on the eve of election. Incidentally,Ahmed left for Dubai shortly after the tweet.
BJP spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain said,Terrorism appears to be making a comeback. It has hit the US for the first time after 9/11 recently. But his (Ahmeds) remarks indicate that terrorism is not an issue for the Congress and votes are the only issue for it.
