At the Republic Day parade, the IAFs tableau, which is usually one of the best of the lot, looked a bit shoddy and out of place, raising many eyebrows. It turns out that security issues literally clipped the wings of the Air Force display. It had put up a scaled model of its latest acquisition, the Aerial Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft. While the model passed all scrutiny and even took part in an initial rehearsal,a unique objection was raised by the Delhi Police. Apparently, the wings of the model passed too close to some of the VIP enclosures. The IAF was asked to make a last-minute adjustment and clip the wings of the display, leaving behind a stub and some disproportionate aircraft!
