The opposition BJP on Tuesday voiced serious concerns over the China-Pakistan nuclear deal, saying that the Chinese engagement with Pakistan on nuclear front was laced with suspicion and sought to know about the governments reaction to the development.
China will be building two nuclear reactors in Pakistan. Chinas engagement with Pakistan is laced with suspicion, BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, referring to reports of Pakistans permission to China for constructing nuclear reactors in their country.
The BJP spokesperson said the move has serious security implications for the entire South Asia region. China is still claiming that it is not violating the Nuclear Suppliers Group norms, that the IAEA,the global nuclear watchdog,is monitoring the products of China. But the fact remains that Pakistan is a failed state and any engagement of China with Pakistan, which also is a terror state, will disturb peace and stability of the region, Rudy said, demanding the governments clarification on the development.
The BJP wants to know why the Congress and the UPA government are so silent on such a strategic issue which is threatening the safety and security of India in particular and of the region in general, he said. On SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadavs praise of BJP patriarch LK Advani,Rudy said Yadavs remarks hold no significance as he has lost all credibility and described it as an reflection of SPs frustration after having lost his credibility. The praise by a person whose personal credibility is lost is of no relevance… One day he pledges support to the government, the next day he withdraws it,on the third day he praises a leader and then backs out, Rudy said.
