With not much political support forthcoming,Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu Sunday returned to Andhra Pradesh, ending his protest in the national capital against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh
Naidu was earlier discharged from the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where he was admitted after being evicted from the Andhra Bhavan premises the venue of his hunger strike.
TDP sources said the party top leadership will meet in a week or so to decide the next course of the protest.
Although party leaders claimed the TDP chief has managed to send a message to his constituency back home, they admitted the lack of political support.
During his fast in Delhi, only JDU chief Sharad Yadav and Shiromani Akali Dal leader and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal turned up in solidarity despite the party top brass reaching out to several leaders, including Mulayam Singh Yadav and Naveen Patnaik. TDP sources said INLD leader Abhay Chautala visited him in hospital.
Before leaving for Hyderabad,Naidu urged national parties to put pressure on the Congress to provide justice to Telugu people. The Congress should hold talks with people from both sides to resolve the issue amicably, he said. Naidu too is not against division of the state, but argues that injustice has been meted out to the Seemandhra region.
He kept up his attack on the Congress, arguing it did not follow proper procedures for bifurcation of Andhra. He said that Seemandhra people are worried about the future of Hyderabad. There is an agitation in Andhra Pradesh. Seemandhra people are worried about education, employment, revenue sharing, water resources and the status of Hyderabad besides its future, he said.
