Chandigarh based leading mother and childcare hospital, Chaitanya Hospital,has bagged the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Quality Award in the category of small scale service industry by the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs,Food and Public Distribution.
Dr. Neeraj Kumar,Managing Director of the hospital said here today that Chaitanya Hospital is the first hospital of the country to have won the category award in the history of Rajiv Gandhi Quality Awards which are announced every year since its inception in 1991 by Bureau of Indian Standards.
Dr. Neeraj Kumar said that Chaitanya Hospital had to compete not only among hospitals but other services like education,Information Technology,Finance etc. This award has brought laurels not only to this region but to the healthcare sector as a whole,he said.
He said that winning recognitions for its excellent and high quality healthcare services is not new for Chaitanya Hospital. It was the first hospital in small sector to be awarded accreditation by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare services,a constituent of Quality Council of India in 2009. The hospital was also awarded FICCI Healthcare Award 2010 for Excellence in Patient Care. Prof. K. V. Thomas,Union Minister of state for Agriculture,Consumer Affairs,Food and Public Distribution and President,Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) presented the award to Chaitanya Hospital during an award ceremony.
he Rajiv Gandhi Quality Award was instituted in the year 1991 by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS),to recognize and encourage Indian manufacturing and service organizations to strive for excellence. The award gives special recognition to those who are considered to be the leaders of quality in India.
