The CBI has sought a warrant to issue an Interpol notice for arrest of independent MLA from Hospet in Bellary Anand Singh, who is holed up in Singapore since September 20,when the agency summoned him for questioning in an illegal mining case.

The agency wants the MLA arrested by the Singapore police and deported to India.

The CBI moved a special court for the warrant Monday, shortly after the MLA was denied anticipatory bail.

The special court said Anand Singh, one of the richest members of the Karnataka Assembly, attempted to evade the law by not submitting himself to questioning by the CBI.

It said the MLA would have submitted himself to questioning if he was innocent and his failure to turn up for questioning suggested complicity.
