Cautioned by PM Manmohan Singh to not “sit in judgement over policy formulation”,CBI director Ranjit Sinha Wednesday said,“An important question has been raised on defining the limits of criminal investigation. We will positively contribute to finding an equilibrium that is in consonance with the requirements of justice.”

Singh’s remarks came in the wake of cases registered by the CBI in the coal block allocation scandal and the 2G spectrum scam.

Pointing out that official policy should not be questioned,Minister of State for Personnel,V Narayanasamy, said,“If an officer of the government takes a decision in the interest of the nation,in good faith,we have to see the decision taken as being a bona fide one and therefore it does not constitute crime.”
