3 occupants of car,a bus passenger critical
A 22-year-old died and 20 others,four of them seriously,were injured,when a speeding bus collided with a car at the Sector 45/46/49/50 traffic signal in the early hours on Thursday.
Ravinder Singh Chauhan died on the spot when the Maruti Alto car (CH03-X-4852),in which he was travelling with his friend,rammed the Haryana Roadways (Delhi-Kalka) bus around 1 pm. The four were returning to Chandigarh from Mohali. Ravinder,a resident of Sector 19,was sitting on the rear seat of the car. His friends Prabhjot,Mukesh and Pradeep are said to be critical. The 17 bus passengers,however,escaped with minor bruises,except for one who is critical in the PGI. Police said due to the impact,the bus overturned.
Bus driver Sanjay was arrested on charges of causing death due to negligence,under Section 304-A of Indian Penal Code.
Ravinders father Lilu Ram Chauhan said his son left home around 9 pm with his three friends. He told me he would be back in an hour. He had gone to one of his friends place in Mohali to borrow his laptop. Who would have imagined that my son will never come back, said the inconsolable father.
According to police,Prahbjot was driving the car and Mukesh was sitting in the front; while Ravinder and Pradeep were sitting on the rear seat.
The car was smashed badly. It took us some time to rescue them, said Inspector Udaypal,Station House Officer of Sector-34 police station.
According to eyewitnesses,Ravinders head was completely crushed and his face was mutilated.
His father said he had completed his graduation from Panjab University and was currently pursuing an animation course in a private institute in Sector 34. His friends are pursuing the same course.
