The Delhi High Court on Wednesday stayed some of the conditions laid down by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) while allowing persons suffering from disabilities to have scribes take the annual examination. A scribe for a student with a disability is the person’s official writer.

On the day the examination started,a Bench headed by Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri stayed the guidelines, which prohibited candidates from having a scribe above 20 years of age and also imposed a restriction against getting assistance in writing from relatives. The Bench said the only condition that could be imposed should be that the writers should not have an academic background in connected fields of education.
