Budgam clashes: Curfew lifted,Army still deployed

Deputy Commissioner Budgam,Khurshed Ahmad,told The Indian Express that curfew was lifted on the third day

The Army,police and paramilitary forces continued to be deployed in some villages of Budgam on Friday to defuse the tension that broke out between two Muslim sects on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner Budgam,Khurshed Ahmad,told The Indian Express that curfew was lifted on the third day and some mischief mongers had been detained by the police.

Around 60 houses were damaged when supporters of the two sects clashed over a minor argument at Sebdan village on Monday. The clashes and arson however spread to 16 villages prompting the administration to impose curfew.
