NEW DELHI: A Delhi sessions court has reserved till March 1 its order on an appeal filed by a key witness of the 2008 cash-for-vote case challenging a magistrate court’s order that rejected his plea to lodge an FIR against Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh and two others for allegedly kidnapping him. Hashmat Ali,the witness,had earlier filed a revision petition in the sessions court saying the magistrate had committed “legal error” by dismissing his plea as offences were clearly made out against Singh and others.

Bihar: Dalit couple commits suicide

PATNA: A Dalit couple committed suicide by consuming pesticide in Arwal on Wednesday night. The couple had also tried to poison their three children. All aged below 10,the children are recovering at a hospital. The deceased are Shiv Kumar Choudhary (35) and Lalita Devi (32).

Court acquits 31 in Kandhamal case

PHULBANI (Orissa): A fast-track court here has acquitted 31 persons who had been accused of being involved in communal violence in Orissa’s Kandhamal district in August 2008. Additional Sessions Judge,B N Mishra while pronouncing judgement in an arson and rioting case,acquitted the 31 accused on Wednesday due to lack of proper evidence.
