NEW DELHI: Mumbai businessman Sahil Peerzada,whose girlfriend Zohal Hamid accused Australian cricketer Luke Pomersbach of battering him and molesting her,has been summoned by the income-tax department on May 30 with financial documents. Sources said the department has taken cognisance of reports that Peerzada’s wealth amounts to around Rs 3,000 crore.

Producer grilled over IPL betting racket

MUMBAI: Nitin Manmohan,the producer of film Gali Gali Chor Hai — for whose special screening Anna Hazare had been present — was questioned on Monday by police probing an IPL betting racket. An arrested bookie had named his co-producer Prakash Chandnani in the racket.

Girl raped inside police outpost

BADAUN: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped inside a police outpost in the Sadar kotwali area. The girl,hailing from Rampur district,had come to offer prayers at a tomb along with her grandfather where they stayed on Sunday night. During patrol duty,a team of Lalpul police brought them to the outpost where she was allegedly raped. Two police recruits and two police personnel have been held in this connection.

PATNA: At his party’s national executive here on Monday,RJD chief Lalu Prasad said that though he is closely watching the policies and programmes of the Nitish Kumar government,he has no ambition of becoming the chief minister of the state again.

Slamming the state government for the “high-handedness” of the bureaucracy,he appealed to the media to report objectively and without being worried about the state government denying them advertisements.

“I have no aspiration to become the CM. I have seen enough,done enough. It is up to you to tell the difference — 1,Anne Marg (CM residence) used to be accessible for all during the RJD rule,now it is an impregnable fortress,” he said,adding that he will expose the “so-called good governance” of Nitish Kumar,and that there was marginalisation of elected representatives now.
