Five Maoists arrested in Bihar

GAYA: Five Maoists were arrested in Jehanabad district. Acting on a tip-off,a special police team laid out a trap and arrested Kundan Sharma alias Pradyuman Singh on Saturday,Superintendent of Police Babu Ram said. Four other Maoists were arrested based on the information provided by Sharma. Pistols,live cartridges and Rs 69,000 in cash were among other things seized from them.

Another tigress dies at Kanha reserve

BHOPAL: One more tigress died at the Kanha Tiger Reserve in Mandla district on Saturday,taking the toll of dead feline to three in the last six days. Circumstantial evidence did not suggest the tigress was poached by poisoning. The exact cause of death would be known after the autopsy report,sources said. Forest officials had found the tigress in a critical condition during patrolling.

Researchers discover ancient river

INDORE: A group of researchers in Dhar district claim to have found traces of an extinct ‘paleo-river’,nearly 65 million years old. Paleo-river is an inactive river or water stream,buried under sediment. It was found that the river flows in the same direction as the Narmada.

Teenager commits suicide

SEONI (MP): A 17-year-old girl,Asha Daheriya,allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her home here because of her poor performance in the Pre-Medical Test. Her body has been sent for post-mortem.
