CHENNAI: An associate professor of National Institute of Fashion Technology in Chennai and another person have been arrested in connection with a complaint by well known singer Chinmayi Sripada of sexual harassment through Twitter. City Cyber Crime cell police arrested Saravana Kumar Perumal of NIFT on Monday and A Radhamanian,an assistant in the Tiruppur Collectorate,on Tuesday based on the October 18 complaint by the singer,the police said. The police have registered a case under the Information Technology Act,2005 and the Prevention of Women Harassment Act.

Three of family killed in train-car collision

ROHTAK: Three members of a family were killed and a child seriously injured when their car collided with a passenger train at an unmanned level crossing here,the police said. The mishap occurred on the Rohtak-Panipat railway line. The two-and-a-half-year-old injured girl has been admitted at PGIMS hospital. Her condition was stated to be critical.

Eight more held for bar girls’ gangrape

BANGALORE: Eight persons,including a woman,have been arrested in connection with the alleged gangrape of three bar girls in Karnataka’s Ramanagara district,taking the number of the detained to nine. A person was arrested Monday evening while seven others were taken into custody on Tuesday morning,Ramanagara DSP Ramlingappa. With this,nine persons have been arrested in connection with the October 19 incident.

Yatra for Sarabjit’s release reaches Shirdi

Shirdi: One Savitakant Laxmi,56,from Agra,has begun his ‘Sadbhavana Yatra’ from Mumbai to Vaishno Devi for the release of Sarbajit Singh from a Pakistani jail. Starting his journey on a cyclerickshaw from actor Shahrukh Khan’s residence here,Laxmi reached Shirdi on Tuesday. He said he will try to get signatures of 51 lakh people for Sarbajit’s release.

Filmmaker Ravi Chopra in ICU

MUMBAI: Filmmaker Ravi Chopra has been admitted to the ICU of a city hospital here due to a lung ailment. Ravi,66,son of the late producer-director B R Chopra,has been reportedly diagnosed with a severe lung ailment. Hospital sources said that Chopra was stable.
