JLR appoints Ralf Speth as new CEO

MUMBAI: Jaguar Land Rover has appointed Ralf Speth as chief executive officer with an overall responsibility for the firm’s operations,continuing with the Tata Group’s move to be a truly global company. The appointment of Speth follows the recruitment of former General Motors European head,Carl-Peter Forster as Tata Motors’ Group chief executive officer,who will take care of the overall responsibility of the company globally,including Jaguar Land Rover.

Experian to operate credit bureau

MUMBAI: Global information services firm Experian said the Reserve Bank has permitted it to operate a credit bureau in the country. Experian,which operates in 65 countries,is the second credit bureau in the country after Credit Information Bureau India which was incorporated in 2000.

REC FPO opens today,analysts upbeat

NEW DELHI: Within weeks of NTPC biting the bullet,another state-run company REC’s follow-on-offer opens today which analysts said would fare better since the floor price is substantially lower than the market price. The floor price for the FPO is fixed at Rs 203 which is nearly 8 per cent lower than the prevailing market price. If subscribed fully,the issue would fetch about Rs 3,451 crore.

PMEAC economic review today

NEW DELHI: The Prime Minister’s advisory panel is all set revise tomorrow its estimate of inflation by this fiscal-end. Inflation has already breached the PMEAC earlier projection of merely over six per cent and food prices are not showing any signs of easing. The rate of price rise at 8.56 per cent in January has also crossed the the Reserve Bank’s revised estimate of 8.5 per cent by March.

Zain gets award for banking service

NEW DELHI: Kuwait-based telecom firm Zain on Thursday said it has bagged an award from the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona for its contribution in mobile banking services. Zain is currently in exclusive talks with Bharti Airtel till March 25 for selling its African assets. It has won the inaugural GSMA’s 2010 “mobile money for the unbanked service” award for its mobile commerce service.

Jet to introduce direct flights to South Africa

JOHANNESBURG: Jet Airways is to introduce daily flight to South Africa from April 15,expanding its overseas network from Europe,US and the Gulf to the African continent,said Nikos Kardassis,CEO of Jet Airways.
