Continuing to target former Gujarat DGP R B Sreekumar in the ISRO case, the BJP on Tuesday demanded stringent action against him for fabricating an espionage case against a most reputed scientist,Dr Nambi Narayan.
Seeking a rehabilitation package for Dr Narayan, party spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said,The Congress party has proved again that it is willing to compromise national security to serve its political ends.
The whole purpose of exonerating Sreekumar was to make him depose against Narendra Modi in the 2002 riots, said Lekhi. Prior to 2005,affidavits filed by Sreekumar before the Nanavati Commission did not implicate Modi in the riots. After his exoneration in January 2005 by UPA,Sreekumar filed several affidavits before the Nanavati Commission belatedly blaming Modi for the riots.
Lekhi claimed this was a classic example where the UPA government,to fix the Gujarat government, took the services of a police officer who was involved in fabricating a false case against a highly respected scientist of India.
The BJP spokesperson was responding to Sreekumars claim that the party had misrepresented facts in the 19-year-old ISRO case.
