The BJP on Thursday utilised the motion of thanks to Presidents Address to launch a scathing attack on the government over price rise in the Rajya Sabha. Senior leader Venkaiah Naidu said the UPA has failed in checking inflation and demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee inquiry into, what he called, the scam in import and export of sugar and wheat.

Leading the BJP charge,Naidu said the government has run out of ideas to check price rise, while internal security still remains fragile and Naxalism is on the rise. The governments foreign policy is unclear as is evident in the decision to hold talks with Pakistan after repeatedly accusing it of using terrorism as an instrument of state policy.
