BJP CMs to accompany Sangma in his campaign

Having extended support to P A Sangma’s bid to the office of the President,the BJP held a high-level meeting with all its chief ministers

Having extended support to P A Sangma’s bid to the office of the President,the BJP on Monday held a high-level meeting with all its chief ministers — Narendra Modi (Gujarat),D V Sadananda Gowda (Karnataka),Raman Singh (Chhattisgarh),Manohar Parrikar (Goa),Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh) and P K Dhumal (Himachal Pradesh) — to chart out its strategy to galvanise its flock to support Sangma against UPA’s Pranab Mukherjee.

The BJP CMs will accompany Sangma when he campaigns in their respective states. In states where the BJP is not in power,its leaders will help Sangma’s campaign.

The meeting held at the residence of party leader L K Advani was also attended by Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi,and party leader in Punjab Assembly Bhagat Chuni Lal. “The meeting was to help the candidature of Sangma and ensure support for him,” Chuni Lal said later.

While Sangma attended the meeting in the evening,earlier in the day the former he also participated in the meeting of BJP’s central office bearers at party headquarters. “Sangma was present in the meeting of BJP office-bearers. He thanked the party for supporting his candidature,” BJP general secretary and chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
