The Aurangabad Police has registered a case against 57 people in connection with Thursday evenings landmine blast in which seven people including former commander of the disbanded Ranbir Sena,Sushil Pandey were killed. While six people including Pandey were killed on the spot, another person succumbed to injuries on Thursday night.
The state government also removed Aurangabad SP Daljit Singh from his post and named Upendra Sharma as the new SP. The police are, meanwhile, trying to verify if the seven named accused are Naxal sympathisers or have any direct links with CPI (Maoist).
Although the landmine blast is result of prolonged battle between Sushil Pandey and ultras,it is also being linked to the acquittal of Ranbir Sena people in Laxmanpur Bathe massacre. Naxals have been losing their grip over Magadh range. They are using the blast as a matter of consolidating their hold over area,an intelligence source said.
