Expelled Samajwadi Party MP from Rampur Jaya Prada has accused UP urban development minister Azam Khan of high-handedness. She claimed the SP leader had pressured a hotel where she had been staying during Rampur visits for the past nine years to deny her accommodation.

“It is very sad for me. For the past nine years as MP of Rampur,I was staying at Modi Hotel. It was a second home to me. For the past four months, they have expressed inability to provide accommodation under pressure from Azam Khan. Now,I stay the nights in Moradabad and return to Rampur in the mornings,” Jaya Prada said.

The MP had a suite permanently booked at the hotel. Even in her absence, the hotel authorities would not take other bookings for the room.

Jaya Prada claimed Azam was insecure and had inferiority complex. “I am not a minister,he is in power. Still,he is doing such low things. Even the district administration delays my request to allot government inspection bungalows if I want to make a short stay.”

Modi Hotel denied the claims. “We are overbooked due to marriages. Azamji has no role in it,” hotel manager Subhash Singh said.

DM Rampur N K S Chauhan denied deliberate delay in allotment of an inspection bungalow to her. “We are always short of space. Most of the time inspection bungalows are booked. We provide her a bungalow most of the time,” he said.

Azam denied comment. “Namaskar, mujhey aapsey koi baat nahi karni hai,” he said with folded hands at the state secretariat here.
