In a series of raids on the residences and bank lockers of an arrested PWD officer from Nashik,the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has claimed to have seized cash and valuables worth Rs 8.70 crore. His subordinate and alleged accomplice was also found to be in possession of over Rs 60 lakh in cash,said ACB officials.
Executive Engineer Satish Chikhlikar was caught on April 30 when a PWD contractor complained that he was being harassed by Chikhlikar after he sought the clearance of a pending bill of Rs 3.6 lakh for a road project in Trimbakeshwar.
We recovered Rs 2,91,26,000 in cash stuffed in suitcases ,27 tolas of gold as well as silver crockery and cutlery worth around Rs 4,000. On Thursday,we opened two bank lockers that Chikhlikar holds in a bank in Nashik and seized a further Rs 4,54,98,000 in cash as well as 4.25 kg of gold. The total value of assets seized from Chikhlikar so far comes up to Rs 8,70,05,292, said SP Shashikant Mahavarkar.
