Several organisations in Assam had links with Maoist groups and were sending their members for training with the Maoists elsewhere in the country,Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said here on Thursday.
Gogoi particularly mentioned names of two organisations, the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA),and said that the government had specific evidence and intelligence inputs about their links.
I am speaking on the basis of intelligence inputs and evidence. There are several organisations which have links with Maoists. I dont want to name all. The KMSS and AANLA have links with the Maoists. Their members have gone to take training, Gogoi said. He was speaking to reporters after distributing laptops to journalists who had completed 10 years of service here.
The CM said the government also had intelligence reports about the involvement of Maoist elements in the protests against big river dams. Incidentally,it is KMSS which has been spearheading the anti-dam movement in the state.
