Refuting media reports,Arya Babbar has clarified that he is not playing the role of captured Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab in Kuch Log. Directed by Shuja Ali,it has Arya in the role of a terrorist but he clarifies that it is not similar to Kasab who was involved in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. I play the role of a young village guy called Ateeq who is a strong believer of Quran. He is later brainwashed into becoming a jehadi terrorist and starts believing that one should kill people to attain jannat, said the actor pointing out that the fact that separates the two is that Ateeq gets caught before the 26/11 attacks.
Set in the backdrop of 26/11,Kuch Log narrates four stories that are interwoven into one film. A sensitive film,it portrays humanity and does not show any religion in bad light. This was one of the reasons that inspired Arya to sign the film.
He said,I have three different looks in the film. One is of a simple village boy. I also have a lean physique and stubble during my training as a terrorist and later, when caught by the cops,I sport short hair.
The actor says that the makers of the film helped him in preparing for the role by sending him some YouTube links to see how terrorists are trained. Apart from this, the actor also underwent rifle shoot training sessions to get his act right.
