The three Tamil Nadu men arrested from Andhra Pradesh Saturday in connection with the killing of a BJP general secretary in Salem are also blamed for the April 17 blast at the BJP office in Bangalore which injured 16 people.
Relying on CCTV footage and investigation of the blast site,the Bangalore Police have in court documents identified Panna Ismail as the man who possibly planted the bomb outside the BJP office.
Isamail,Fakruddin and Mallick have also been named in court documents,along with 13 others who have been arrested,as being responsible for planning and executing the blast.
The Bangalore Police is set to send its own investigation team to interrogate the arrested men over the next couple of days,a senior police officer said. Police are drafting the chargesheet in the case and the new arrests will help make it comprehensive,sources said.
The trio are also involved in the 2011 pipe bomb attack in Thirumangalam that was targeted at BJP leader L K Advani,and are a part of the proscribed outfit Al Ummah that was responsible for the 1998 Coimbatore blasts that killed 58 people.
The investigation into the Bangalore blasts indicated that Al Ummah was regrouping and police were able to track the key players through a second motor cycle used to plant the bomb.
The Tamil Nadu police who helped the Bangalore Police crack the blast case were initially slow in reacting to the resurgence of Al Ummah but began serious work after the July killings of two Right-wing leaders in the state.
