Hate speeches: SC asks NGO to produce complaints
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Friday asked the petitioner NGO to adduce complaints it had filed against political leaders for delivering hate speeches. A Bench led by Justice B S Chauhan sought the counsel for Pravasi Bhalai Sangthan to satisfy the court that there was laxity on the part of authorities in taking appropriate actions against guilty leaders although it had lodged complaints.
The court was of the opinion that its orders will be required only if the legal regime was found lacking to prosecute them for stoking hatred or communal hatred through such speeches. It gave the NGO three weeks to produce such complaints. ENS
