After two weeks of a blockade that has brought work on NHPCs 2000-MW Lower Subansiri hydel project to a grinding halt and affected supplies to several districts in his state,Arunachal Pradesh CM Nabam Tuki on Saturday described it as a law and order problem in Assam and asked the Centre to intervene.

Tuki, who met Union power minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in Delhi on Friday, also sought additional security paramilitary forces to provide security to the NHPC workforce at the project site at Gerukamukh on the Assam-Arunachal border.

The anti-dam agitation is a law and order problem of Assam and it is for Assam to tackle it. But since it is affecting my state too,I appeal to the Centre to intervene, Tuki said.
