In another jolt to the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP),T Devender Goud, one of its senior most leaders,on Saturday indicated that he was going back to the Telugu Desam Party from which he had resigned on June 24 last year.
Goud met PRP president Chiranjeevi and is learnt to have expressed his desire to return to the TDP. Emerging out of the meeting,Goud said he would discuss the issue with his supporters and pro-Telangana leaders supporting him and decide when to join the TDP.
I hold Chiranjeevi in high regard and he has confided in me on every issue. I also discussed with him the lack of a strong Opposition party in the state, he said.
Goud had resigned last year citing differences with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu over the partys stand on Telangana. Alleging that Naidu was anti-Telangana and was against the demand for a separate state,he had launched Nava Telangana Party (NTP) in August last but later, merged it with the PRP just before the elections. Goud contested the Lok Sabha elections on the PRP ticket from Malkajgiri constituency and from Ibrahimpatnam Assembly seat in Ranga Reddy, but lost from both places.
A prominent backward class leader,Goud was member of the TDPs politburo and second in command in the party after Naidu.
