Social activist Anna Hazare has decided to hold the first meeting of his new core committee at Ralegan Siddhi on November 24 and 25.
The decision was taken after a two-hour-long closed-door meeting with Kiran Bedi,Avinash Dharamadhikari and Vishwambhar Choudhari. Hazare said it would be mandatory for all the members of the committee to declare their assets at the time of induction. It is learnt that the strength of Annas new team could be anywhere between 30 to 50.
Bedi who travelled to Annas village from Delhi to participate in the meeting said,Many eminent persons from different walks of life will be inducted in the new core committee. She said the team will have lots of youngsters too.
Anna had dissolved the earlier core committee of India Against Corruption, popularly known as Team Anna, after differences with some members over the plan to convert the movement into a political party. The agenda of the movement and our stand on different issues will be decided by this (new) committee. I will launch my countrywide tour on January 30 from Gandhi Maidan in Patna. For this,I will by travel by trains and there would be no air travel, said Anna, who is recuperating after a cataract surgery. Meanwhile,Bedi said that though offices of the movement will be opened in other cities, its headquarters will be at Ralegan Siddhi.
On allegations of ex-IPS officer Y P Singh who on Thursday had said Hazare seemed wary of taking on the Pawars, the activist said Singh seemed unaware about his opposition to Lavasa and the agitations staged by him. If he wishes I will send him the details of the agitations against Lavasa, said Anna.
