The Jharkhand Police will soon prepare a short animation of the July 2 attack on Pakur Superintendent of Police Amarjit Balihar and send it to its officials for training purposes.
The animation will be part of a series of 50 clips that are being prepared based on major Left Wing Extremist-related incidents in the state, said Additional General of Police (Modernisation & Training) S N Pradhan.
About 10 clips have been completed. The average length is 8-12 minutes. The video links will be disseminated through email ids created for policemen. We have created 50,000 email ids. The links to these videos will be sent to their inboxes, said Pradhan. The videos themselves will stay in our servers. These videos will also be available at our District Training Centres located in the offices of the SPs.
All videos will have Hindi commentary along with subtitles. There will also be a section at the end where a list of lessons learnt from the incident will be listed.
Pradhan heads the Open Group of e-governance,operating out of the police headquarter here, which has been developing several pioneering Information Technology-driven efforts of the state police.
Another high-profile animation of the team was Ponky,an animated donkey, developed as part of the polices outreach efforts to assist the public to learn about the fundamentals of using a computer through videos.
The team has already developed the animated rendition of the January 21,2012 attack in Garhwa districts Bhandaria, where the police station incharge was killed along with 12 other officials when the Maoists triggered a mine.
Meanwhile, police sources said that the attack on the July 2 was led by Maoist zonal commander Praveerda himself. Praveer has been involved in each attack in the region. He is very hands-on,not someone who holds back. He takes part in operations, does the firing himself, said an officer.
The officer also confirmed suspicions that the attack was in retaliation of the February arrest of previous zonal commander Ramlal Rai. Maoist squads were brought in from Giridih and Bihars Jamui. Praveer is from Giridih,so his connections helped bring in more people, said the officer.
