The IIT-Delhi has proposed the creation of a unique endowment poolendowment poolendowment poolendowment pool with support from its alumni to fund world-class faculty development and to finance its research students for international exposure.
Director R K Shevgaonkar has called upon the institutes alumni in the industry to engage in developing a modern curriculum which is in sync with the dynamically changing professional landscape.
Delivering the keynote address at its first-ever alumni meet at the institute Sunday,Shevgaonkar said,We require repositioning of our institute in order to make it a world-class research institute and for that the institute has taken several innovative measures and to take it forward,the role of the alumni is critical. He said the institute was committed to work on three critical areas faculty,infrastructure development and funding to catapult itself into a new league.
Elaborating on the institutes plans to set up a centre for cyber security at Delhi and a science & technology park at its Sonipat campus,the director said,Everything is online and control is remote. It was felt that IIT-D is most suitable to have a capacity building for cyber security in the country. The centre,starting next session,will also undertake cutting-edge research in this field.
The theme of the alumni meet was Envisioning the Future. Together. A large number of alumni having excelled in the corporate,business,government and educational fields have wanted to give back to the institute as well as to the society, Pravin Purang,the president of the IIT-Delhi Alumni Association,said.
