The All India Radio (AIR) is all set to launch programmes in regional divisions to spread awareness on governments flagship programmes and taking feedback. The launch will be early in the new year, also the year of Parliamentary elections.
Twenty regional news divisions including Kolkata,Chennai,Bangalore,Ahmedabad,Lucknow,Raipur,Bhopal,Srinagar and Shillong will telecast seven phone-in programmes each from January 4. Rural employment guarantee scheme, direct benefit transfer,Aadhar, scholarship and other welfare schemes will be highlighted. The regional divisions can take their pick, depending on what is most suited to listeners.
There already is a national programme by the public broadcaster to generate feedback on schemes but this is the first time it will go regional, said AIR DG (news) Archana Dutta.
The 20 regional divisions will conduct seven phone-in programmes each when experts in the studio will answer queries from scheme beneficiaries on the ground. We will send the feedback to the concerned ministries, Dutta told The Indian Express.
The programme broadcast from regional units will be relayed by other AIR stations in the states. AIR correspondents will be the link between beneficiaries of schemes and experts in the studio and help them ask questions.
