With party president Nitin Gadkari out of the country on a holiday,BJP parliamentary party chief LK Advani on Tuesday took charge of extending the party’s ongoing battle against the alleged corruption of the Congress from Parliament to the streets. Advani on Tuesday held a meeting of party general secretaries to instruct them to chart out a programme of countrywide protests in the wake of the CAG report on coal block allocation.

Later, party general secretaries followed Advani’s instructions with a close door strategy meeting to prepare the contour of tentative programmes. In the first phase of the programme finalised, they have decided that party’s youth wing will burn the Prime Minister’s effigies at the national capital and various state capitals on Wednesday.

On Friday the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha will stage protests across state capitals. Over the weekend, top party leaders will visit state capitals to address meetings and press conferences.

“Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley explained about fight against corruption in the BJP parliamentary party meeting today. Everybody is expected to take this message to their respective constituencies,” party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.

Given the fact the party appears isolated in its obstruction of Parliament for the sixth day in a row,BJP leaders were learnt to have particularly emphasised to their MPs not to be defensive.Swaraj was learnt to have told BJP MPs that they can assert pride by highlighting what the BJP achieved by stalling Parliament over 2G issue.
