The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday said it would welcome members from other political parties and social organisations for the Lok Sabha elections as long as they were “like-minded”. It said a two-member subcommittee of political affairs committee (PAC) member Sanjay Singh and national secretary Pankaj Gupta had been constituted to tour the country and determine the organisational strength of the party in different regions.

“We have not made our entire Lok Sabha strategy, but small steps are being taken. We have constituted a subcommittee which will take decisions on strategy and candidate selection, comprising Sanjay Singh and Pankaj Gupta. They will visit different states and check the situation,” PAC member Yogendra Yadav said.

Singh said the candidate selection form will be released on Friday, both online and at party offices, throughout the country. “We have not decided on how many seats we will contest, though we have grassroot organisations in 309 districts across the country. People from other parties, social activists and farmer groups are free to join if they are like-minded. We will look to strengthen our party nationally within 4 months,” he said. He added that any candidate who wishes to apply for candidature will have to bring a hundred signatures per vidhan sabha under the parliamentary constituency to be considered for the post.
